SCBB Filmed For Documentary

In May 2012 we had the opportunity to perform for an indie documentary being filmed called “A Marvelous Era.” The film makers were travelling across the United States to capture live performances of many big bands and to interview and discuss with musicians the current state of the genre in our country. The final film will contain some excellent and rare vintage footage that will contrast and compare the big band music and groups of today with those that made it famous when it used to be considered “pop” music!

Check out what the film crew is up to as they put together the footage they collected on their adventure: “A Marvelous Era”

They are still looking for investors, so you can still get play a part in telling this interesting story. Click HERE for info.

Here are few photos from the filming!

Space City Big Band Plays the Senior To Senior Prom

The senior to senior prom is a CCISD fun event where the senior class from Clear Lake High host a group of local seniors brought in to enjoy an evening of dining, music and dancing. We had a lot of fun doing it and were glad to help out.

Here are some photos from the event:

And a short video outlining the event featuring the band’s playing!

Our participation in the event led us to the opportunity to become featured sponsors for the event that was promoted in the Gold Communicator, a senior newsletter sent out by the district:

SCBB Plays Shrove Tuesday – 2012

This year we were lucky enough to be invited to the St. Martin’s Shrove Tuesday celebration at their beautiful church in the Galleria area.  We were joined by a guest vocalist from the church, Elsa Moen.  The band also participated in the crazy hat competition!  We had a great time and we hope they did too! Here’s some photos from the event.  Check out that setup!
